May 17, 2018 02:05 pm LondonThe pound to dollar exchange rate moved up on Thursday to 1.3516 dollars per pound sterling. The change was 0.01 per cent from the previous close of 1.3514. Today's maximum rate was 1.3569 dollars, while the minimum exchange rate was 1.3477.
The Dollar index, calculated against the basket of leading currencies, rose 0.07 percent to 93.41 from 93.34.
According to the UK statistics, the US dollar is the most popular currency of invoice for imports, accounting for 68.1 per cent of value. Pound sterling accounted for 20.2 per cent of invoiced imports. Pound sterling is the most popular currency of invoice for exports, accounting for 57.4 per cent of value. The US dollar accounted for 35.5 per cent.
Brent crude oil futures, the international benchmark, were trading at $79.85, +0.72 per cent. The gold price stood at $1287.10, -0.34 per cent.
