Oil prices increased to $79.92, +0.81%

The Brent crude oil price was trading at $79.92 a barrel. This was an increase of 0.81 per cent from the previous close of $79.28. Today's maximum price was $80.50, while the minimum traded price was $79.18. In the UK, the Brent oil price was £59.10 a barrel, +0.73 per cent.

The U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil price was up 0.2 per cent, from $71.49 to $71.63a barrel. In pounds, the WTI oil price was £52.97, +0.13 per cent.

The Dollar Index, which tracks the U.S. dollar's performance against the basket of currencies, rose 0.06 per cent to 93.40 from 93.34 points.

The gold price stood at $1290.20, -0.10 per cent.
